WHWF Rehabilitation Center
A Dream That Became Reality— A Future We Build Together
For years, Wild Heart Wildlife Foundation (WHWF) dreamed of having a dedicated Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and on-site clinic —a place where injured, orphaned, and displaced wildlife could receive urgent care, recover, and be returned to the wild where they belong. That dream is no longer just a vision—it’s a reality!
Today, our Wildlife Rehabilitation Center with on-site clinic is actively providing lifesaving care to countless wild animals in need. Some are already flying or running completely free, others have taken their first steps back into freedom, while more wild patients are still undergoing specialized rehabilitation. This center is more than just a facility; it’s a beacon of hope for wildlife.
But we are not done yet. The journey continues, and to keep saving lives, we need your support. Wildlife conservation is not a one-time effort—it’s a lifelong commitment.
Wild Lives We’ve Helped
At our clinic, each patient has a story. Some were victims of habitat destruction, others were rescued from the illegal wildlife trade, and many were found injured, in need of urgent intervention.
Species that we have helped since inception, currently undergoing rehabilitation, recently released, or in need of care:
Pearl-Spotted Owlet - Leopard Tortoise - Caracal - Meerkat - Spotted Eagle Owl - Lesser Bushbaby - Vervet Monkey - Blesbuck - Brown Snake Eagle - Barn Owl - Marabou Stork - Steppe Buzzard - Lobatse Hingeback Tortoise - European Bee-eater - Black-chested Snake Eagle - Scrub Hare - Spring Hare - Palm Swift - Porcupine - Mongoose - Warthog - Leopard - Black Mamba - Southern African Python - Puffadder - Brown House Snake - Spotted Bush Snake - Monitor Lizard - And many more…
Every wild soul /heart we save brings us closer to restoring balance to nature. Their survival depends on urgent medical care, proper rehabilitation, and the chance to return to their rightful place in the wild.
Building a Stronger Future for Wildlife
Our Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is growing, but it still requires ongoing support to expand and sustain its lifesaving work. While we have already welcomed and treated many wild animals, there is so much more to be done.
Here’s how we are making a difference—and how you can be part of it:
The Wildlife Clinic
- Emergency Veterinary Care: Treating and stabilizing injured wildlife
- Veterinary Training & Education: Providing hands-on experience with the help of veterinarians, to volunteers and students.
- Specialized Facilities: Equipped with an examination and surgical treatment area, wash station, de-stressing chamber, feeding & non-critical treatment areas, patient ‘wards’ (crates), bigger cages, and a dedicated recovery space, human overnight facilities in-clinic for critical feedings of neonates etc.
The Rehabilitation Center
- Temporary Enclosures: Safe spaces for animals before transfer or release, or next-stage rehabilitation in bigger, wilder enclosures.
- Habitat-Appropriate Care: Ensuring every animal regains its wild instincts.
- Species-Specific Rehabilitation: Each patient receives tailored care to maximize their chance of survival.
The Future of Conservation
- Education & Outreach: Increasingly focusing on hosting training programs on wildlife rescue, snake handling, and rehabilitation. Providing talks and information at schools and community institutions geared to foster a love for conservation and improve general knowledge directly within the communities.
- Volunteer Housing: Expanding, upgrading and equipping accommodations for dedicated wildlife volunteers.
- Security & Sustainability: Upgrading fencing, monitoring, communications and alternative energy solutions.
